The Lost Hours is 20-year-old singer/songwriter, Callum James Hamilton. Hailing from Leeds, this brilliant songsmith has just released his latest single, ‘Lonely Love’ on 6th September 2019.
‘Lonely Love’ is a wonderful composition. The acoustic guitar, layered vocals, lively percussion, and melodic bass all work together to create a piece of art that is rich in harmonies and filled with soul. All of the instrumentation is melodic and feels as though it is continually rolling on during the song.
Infectious in nature, the bridge and chorus are both catchy and they stay in the listeners’ minds long after the music has finished. There are semitone chord changes at the end of the chorus which are unexpected and keep the listener on their toes.
Hamilton’s percussive guitar style reminds us of John Martyn. There are nods to ‘Solid Air’ during ‘Lonely Love’. He has the ability to captivate the listener from the very first few bars and hold their attention, entranced for the duration of the single.
Hamilton says of ‘Lonely Love’, “It is the culmination of months of personal lyrical writing and reflection met with raw nervous performances. I wrote it in a rehearsal room the size of a glorified wardrobe in Old Street.” You can hear the pain and emotion emanating from the single. Hamilton has put his raw feelings on the line during this single and we feel this honesty will connect with his audience.
The Lost Hours is an extremely exciting talent. His ability in composing and performance is unparalleled to any songwriter his age and we are sure he is destined for big things in the future. Check out ‘Lonely Love’ from the player below!
