Hailing from Oslo Norway, Temperature Falls are a trip-hop/alternative rock duo. Comprised of vocalist/lyricist Camilla and multi-instrumentalist Ian J. Ward, Temperature Falls have just released their first single ‘Zuzu’s Petals’ from their upcoming EP.
Temperature falls have the ability to create and sculpt moods with their music. This is present on this new track. ‘Zuzu’s Petals’ feels mysterious and moody from the outset. Atmospheric shifting and changing in the instrumentation lets the listener know the mood could change at any moment.
We loved the emotion-filled vocals that guide the single along. Layered in places, they encapsulate texture and warmth in their presence. The vocals feel as though they are being directed directly to you, a personal experience. There is a shift in feel after the first chorus, and the stoic drums hold the integrity of the track.
The title, ‘Zuzu’s Petals’ has been taken from an incident in the classic film, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’. Temperature Falls say, “It can be a wonderful life and a wonderful world, but often filled with hateful people. People often not concerned with your situation but seem to think their opinion on how you lead your own life, even when it doesn’t affect them or anyone else.”
Citing their influences including Bjork, Portishead and Pearl Jam, elements of these artists come through on the single. The song feels as though it evolved naturally in the writing process and is filled with heart and integrity.
We are so lucky to see Temperature Falls back doing what they do best. After hearing ‘Zuzu’s Petals’, we can not wait to hear what the new EP will be. 2020 is going to be a big year for Temperature Falls, make sure you check out this dynamic duo today!
