O’Reilly & Vincent – ‘Men & Books’

O’Reilly & Vincent – ‘Men & Books’

Musicians O’Reilly & Vincent released their spellbinding debut single, ‘Men & Books’ in January 2020. Based in Ludlow, their beautiful sound is destined to win the hearts of its listeners.

A beautifully played acoustic guitar opens the song. It is soon joined by a bass creating its own atmosphere while still complimenting the guitar. The majestic vocals effortlessly guide the song along with poetical lyrics blessing the piece. We liked the reverb which has been added in the production. It fills the song with extra colour and richness.

The simple and laid back instrumentation leaves room for the excellent songwriting, arrangement and musicianship to shine. The instrumental is filled with emotion too, and although the track is only two minutes eighteen seconds in length, it packs a big punch. O’Reilly & Vincent describe their sound as “Nick Mulvey with touches of Ralph McTell and Don McClean in the vocal delivery,” we think that’s pretty spot on!

Lyricist Rod says about ‘Men & Books’, “One day out of the blue, a man turned up and offered to nurture our garden. Later on, he gave me this book, and I captured the moment in words. However, I never got to read it, as it was lost in a house move. For me, the song grapples with the way in which not everything has to be fully understood for it to mean something to you.”

Released on Perl Wen Records, ‘Men & Books’ is taken from the duos upcoming album ‘Clearance Sale’. Based on the strength of ‘Men & Books’, we can not wait to hear the full album. The duo are busy scheduling gigs to support the release. We can not wait!
