Tyson Ray Borsboom – ‘Will’

Tyson Ray Borsboom – ‘Will’

Musician Tyson Ray Borsboom has released his magnificent album ‘Will’, in February 2020. Borsboom is certainly a singer/songwriter at the top of his game.

‘Coastline’ opens the release with layered vocals and an electric guitar. A full band sound kicks in with driving drums and a melodic bass. We enjoyed ‘Can’t Go Home’, it has a traditional country feel complete with an excellently played slide guitar. Its chorus is catchy and infectious, a song to have you reaching for the repeat button!

‘Run’ is simply a gorgeous song. From a gentle acoustic opening, delicate and heartfelt lyrics are delivered by Borsboom. Beautiful and mesmerising harmonising vocals burst into the sonic spectrum, creating depth within the piece. We found the bass to be melodic and percussion subtle but integral too.

‘Never Said Before’ features gorgeous acoustic guitar picking from the get-go. Borsboom’s gruff vocals are beautifully juxtaposed to the string arrangement which appears. The strings are luscious in their delivery and add an undeniable charm to the piece.

The musicianship on ‘Will’ is excellent. Each musician is clearly a master of their craft, yet they still come together to create a piece of art that is destined to stand the test of time. It reminds us of Hootie and the Blowfish in places, never a bad thing!

Borsboom cites his influences as coming from artists such as Ziggy Alberts, Ben Howard, Donovan Woods, and Dermot Kennedy. You can hear these musicians coming through on ‘Will’, but make no mistake, Borsboom makes music all of his own.

Hailing from Lethbridge, Canada, Borsboom is a talented musician who is able to convey emotion to the listener effortlessly. ‘Will’ is filled with beautiful compositions and arrangements. He is an exciting talent, and we look forward to hearing what he will do next.
