‘Mama’ is the stunning latest release from the Alternative Rock Band, DAY. Hailing from South London, this three-piece has released a compelling and addictive single with ‘Mama’, and we recommend checking it out from the link below.
An attention-grabbing cymbal opens the release before a tense buildup of environmental sounds appear. Next, an electric, jangly and rhythmic guitar kicks in. A bass adds its unique richness, and all of this lays the foundation for the stoic vocals to enter.
Drums and beautiful horns enter together. The piece is rich in texture and colour, and we adored the addition of the tambourine adding an extra layer of texture to the piece. Catchy and layered instrumentation builds and thoroughly engages the listener.
DAY says about this brilliant latest release, “The song is about our relationship with the earth, characterised by an animal searching for meaning from its mother. It ultimately determines the answer is love, and there’s plenty of it.”
Citing their influences as artists such as Arcade Fire, Fat White Family, Mellah, Wooden Shjips, and MGMT, we can hear these artists coming through in the music. Make no mistake; DAY makes a sound all of their own.
We are so excited to hear that DAY are currently planning their next single releases for summer and autumn 2020, which will be followed by a themed EP called ‘RUN’. This three-piece is an exciting band. Since forming in 2019, they have played at over 20 venues across London including O2 Academy Islington, The Troubadour, Sebright Arms and The Windmill.
So make sure you check out ‘Mama’ today, we can not wait to see what DAY will do next!
