Big Wednesday EP
London based band Big Wednesday, have released their brilliant EP, in July 2020. It is an exciting release, and a must hear EP this summer.
Firstly, ‘Stuck In The Kitchen’ opens the release, the upbeat and enticing nature instantly draws the listener in. It is a catchy song which is filled with unusual chordal progressions. Secondly, ‘Do Me No good’ has an acoustic opening which evolves into a full band song. The layered vocals and chords change from major to minor creating colour. In addition, ‘Losing Days’ has a melodic groove from the get-go. It is filled with texture and heart; the perfect ending to leave the listener wanting more.
The Band Comments
Big Wednesday say, “We were friends before bandmates and spending time together, getting to know one another from drama school meant we all connected on a musical as well as emotional level. As students of the arts, we have developed a strong desire to be storytellers through our music, as well as enjoying the aesthetic element of being a band.”
Big Wednesday are comprised of band members Harvey Badger – Vocals, Guitar, Caitlin Lavagna – Vocals, Drums, Jacob Powell – Lead Guitar, and Ryan Anderson – Bass, Vocals. They met while studying at Drama School in London and instantly found a connection playing music. Together they are making unique and compelling tunes, and this is what makes the band stand out from the crowd.
The band pull from a wide range of rock and pop artists such as The Zombies, Fleetwood Mac, The Strokes and Radiohead. We can hear these artists coming through on this EP, but Big Wednesday is making music all of their own.
The release was recorded last year at Resident Studios in London, and was produced by Rich Mandell from ‘Happy Accidents’. Together the team have done an excellent job in making a piece of art that will stand the test of time.
So make sure you add Big Wednesday to your weekend playlist. To sum up, they are an exciting band, and we look forward to hearing what they will do next.
