Needle – ‘The Long View’
California-based band Needle has released the stunning album ‘The Long View’, in July 2020. It is an indie-pop release at its finest!
‘Over the Rainbow’ opens the album with emotive and compelling vocals. It is an atmospheric opening which sets the scene beautifully as to what is to come.
We enjoyed ‘Outskirts’, a textured electric guitar, and soulful vocals fill the sonic spectrum. ‘Apology’ is filled with a luscious melody that is simply mesmerising. ‘Not The Girl’ has an uplifting feel that is thoroughly compelling. We love the layered vocals which fill the sonic spectrum. Finally, ‘The Last of the Light’ closes the release and leaves the listener wanting more!
Needle is comprised of songwriter Julie Cornett and Steve Beck. They reunited to write and record a fresh group of songs and ‘The Long View’ was the beautiful end product.
The duo says about the release, “Some of the songs had been sitting on the shelf for a while, and some are newer. In the same way that a dormant desert seed has known water will eventually come, ‘The Long View’ is about awakening from a long slumber and reclaiming yourself after being lost and forgotten on the outskirts.”
Needle released their first album in 2006 entitled, ‘Songs Your Mother Never Sang You’. An EP called ‘Saint Timothy’s’ came next, and ‘The Long View’ is the latest release. Based on the strength of this latest album, we can not wait to check out previous releases too!
We thoroughly recommend checking out this brilliant album this week. Needle is an exciting band, and we very much look forward to hearing what they will do next. Until then, listen to ‘The Long View’ from the link below.
