San Francisco has released the magnificent single ‘(Not) Sentimental’ in November 2020. Read out full interview now!

What is your earliest music memory?

My earliest music memory is a surprisingly vivid one, and it’s hearing the first rolling stones album in the back of my parent’s car when I was little.

Who influenced your latest release ‘(Not) Sentimental’?

My latest single was just inspired someone I got with on a night out but ended straight after. Instead of being overly sentimental about it, I wanted the song to almost celebrate the night for what it was hence the title.

You worked with producer Jake Day on ‘(Not) Sentimental’, what sparked that collaboration?

So back when I was recording my first single, I was looking for someone to mix, and master and a mate from college had used Jake in the past and recommended him as he had done such a great job on the first single it felt daft to not have him do this one.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

I’m a HUGE fan of moby, so a collaboration with him would be incredible!

What draws you into making indie-rock music?

I’ve been into indie music since I was 11 and so the opportunity to add to such an already rich genre I find really exciting. Also, I feel that I do have something new to offer especially as my lyrical influences arent necessarily indie artists and that in turn results in a more interesting end product.

What’s your dream venue to play?

I know it’s not exactly a ‘venue’, and I know its cliche, but there’s no stage I want to play on more than main stage Reading and Leeds (headlining of course!).

Other than music, what are you passionate about?

I’ve done martial arts since I was five and that continues to be really important to me, but I love films as well, and that’s something that I’m really excited to start incorporating into music videos as I’ve got loads of ideas and just need covid to back off so I can get started!

You studied at the Leeds Conservatoire, what was that like?

Studying at Leeds conservatoire is incredible! Being around such talented musicians on a daily basis is a dream come true and having three years to just focus on music is such a fortunate position to be in

What changes would you like to see in the music business?

Right now, il be happy if we can have live music up and running again properly with as many of the small venues open as possible with as many of the industry professionals still in their jobs. Then we can look around at what we’ve got and see what needs changing.

Have you started working on your next release?

I have absolutely started on my next release. I don’t know what I will be necessary as I’m always writing/recording so right now it could be one of a number of things but whatever it eventually becomes it will be out fairly soon, maybe even before Christmas!
