Baby Brave – ‘Sunny Days In Dark Rooms’
Wrexham-based band Baby Brave have released the brilliant EP ‘Sunny Days In Dark Rooms’. It is an indie-rock release that you need to hear!
‘Bombatomic’ opens the release, and it is engaging from the get-go. A stoic rhythm section underpins the dynamic synths. We adore the upbeat vocals that inject the track with further vivid colour.
In addition, ‘Doctor’ is a stand-out song that takes the EP in a fresh direction with a slower tempo, relatable lyrics and stunning instrumentation.
Moreover, ‘Phoenix’ is an electronic-pop classic song in the making. Complete with warm, punchy production and addictive vocal performances, it is a superb track.
Finally, ‘Bronco’ closes the release and leaves the listener reaching for the repeat button. Baby Brave are a band that needs to be heard!
Baby Brave say about this stunning release, “Written during the depths of Covid lockdown which coincided with the end of a ten-year relationship, the EP represents a time of intense emotion, with a lot of time to be lyrically introspective.”
They continue, “This was a welcome creative release in an otherwise dreary period of time. In typical Baby Brave style, the optimist wins – the lyrics are hopeful, dark but playful.”
Baby Brave comprises band members Emmi Manteau – vocals, Steve Nicholls – guitar/producer, Jason Williams – drums, and Andrew Stokes – bass. They are excellent musicians in their respective fields, but the magic happens when they play together.
In addition, Baby Brave cites their influences as coming from bands/artists such as Blondie, Brian Eno, Fever Ray, Chic, Jimmy Eat World, and PJ Harvey. We can hear these muses coming through on ‘Sunny Days In Dark Rooms’ and Baby Brave stand shoulder to shoulder with any of these artists.
So make sure you add ‘Sunny Days In Dark Rooms’ to your new music playlist this week; it is an EP you do not want to miss!
