Cellos – ‘Been Here Before’
Durham-based band Cellos have released the magnificent album, ‘Been Here Before’. It is a ten-track release that takes the listener on a journey and one which needs to be added to your new music playlist this week.
‘Insomniac’ opens the album to driving guitars mixed to either side of the sonic spectrum. The vocals are captivating and sing out relatable lyrics. As the full band kicks in, Cellos are just getting started!
‘Out Of Luck’ is a standout song. It features a catchy melody and layered electric guitars, which fill the song with vivid colours. The chorus is catchy and stays with the listener once the music has ended.
‘What’s The Hurry’ has a funky groove with melodic bass and a stoic beat. The vocals have a personality to them with a hint of humour built-in too.
Finally, ‘Put It On Me Tab, Mate’ closes this fantastic album, and it leaves the listener wanting more!
Band
Cellos comprise of band members Niall Fenwick (Lead Vocals & Rhythm Guitar), Jack Walker (Bass & Occasional Lead Vocals), Joe Teasdale (Lead Guitar) and Harry Mason (Drums). They are all clearly fantastic musicians in their respective fields, but magic happens when they come together.

Influences
Cellos cite their influences as coming from indie-rock, britpop, and most notably, The Beatles. We can hear these muses coming through on ‘Been Here Before’ but make no mistake, Cellos are making music all of their own.
The Garage Studios/Tru Studios
This superb album has been recorded at The Garage Studios in South Shields and mixed and mastered by Tru Studios. Together, the team has done an excellent job producing an album that stands tall with the greats and puts Cellos as a band to watch in 2022.
In a world where singles are the norm and albums are becoming a rarity, it is refreshing to hear such a brilliant and cohesive body of work as ‘Been Here Before’. Cellos are onto something special with this release, and we look forward to seeing which direction they will go next.
