Cigarettes For Breakfast – ‘Wait’
Philadelphia-based band Cigarettes For Breakfast, have released the excellent dream-pop single ‘Wait’. It is a must-hear release this January 2021.
A full band sound greets the listener and instantly draws the audience in. We adore the energy from the get-go. The layered guitars and stoic rhythm section effortlessly propel the single along and lay the solid foundations for the vocals to enter.
The layered and characterful vocals compliment each other beautifully. They effortlessly inject balance and harmony into the piece. We adore the gorgeous guitars too; they are melodic and thoroughly compelling.
We found the chorus to be catchy and stays with the listener long after the music has ended. ‘Wait’ is a song which evolves before the listener; it has a glorious rise and fall in texture, which is simply sublime.
Cigarettes For Breakfast say about the release, “‘Wait’ attempts to encapsulate an argument between two parents from the perspective of a child. Its distant, dreamlike quality echos only bits and pieces, but still brings forth bleak memories of childhood nostalgia.”
Cigarettes For Breakfast are comprised of band members Matt Whiteford – Vocals, Guitar, Donnie CoCo – Vocals, Bass, Cameron Kynett – Vocals, Guitar, Chris Doyle – Guitar and Tony Rossi – Drums. It is clear to hear that they are excellent musicians in their own right, but magic happens when they come together!

‘Wait’ has been mixed by Whiteford at The Hatch Studio, and mastered by Alex Santilli at Spicehouse Sound. Together, the team has done an excellent job creating a single which puts Cigarettes For Breakfast as a band to watch this 2021.
