89155b80c83dbd87766d8a9abca02d4f-slave+finalGnarlah are a Brighton based band whose latest single ‘Slave’, is an innovative and melodic song. Filled with memorable guitar riffs and catchy melodies, Gnarlah are most certainly destined for big things in 2019.

‘Slave’ opens to a staccato beat swiftly followed by melodic guitars. The song feels accessible to all from the beginning with its enticing rock feel and gorgeous harmonies. We adored the tempo change at the end of the verses which takes the listener on unexpected twists and turns. There are extra guitars adding texture on the chorus too which elevates the song to another level.

The second verse is similar musically to the first verse with the addition of added percussion. We loved the screaming, passionate vocals at the end of the second chorus which are set to a backdrop of marching drums. There is a disorientating feel at this point with a sense of something big brewing. This culminates in a skillful solo to a sudden ending which leaves the listener wanting more. The uncertain paths the song takes are a credit to the composition and execution. They keep the single feeling fresh and exciting. Blissful.

Comprised of musicians, Ren Woods – Lead Vocal/Guitar, Travis Powers – Backing Vocals/ Bass Guitar and Jacob Andrews – Drums, Gnarlah are a band who are full of talent. They have only been together since 2018 but their sound is tight and thoroughly engaging. Gnarlah are a band who we are sure will translate well to being seen live. They describe their shows as “High energy live performances”. Make sure you catch them at their two currently confirmed dates left in 2019: 29th September Supporting Cassels at The Hope & Ruin in Brighton and 26th November Supporting Beach Riot at The Prince Albert.

What an exciting band, we can not wait to see what will come next from them!
