Golden Richards – ‘Shake Your Hair’
Hailing from Chicago, Golden Richards has released the superb single ‘Shake Your Hair’. It is an alternative-rock release that is filled with heart.
A bright, engaging electric guitar opens the release before the punchy bass and drums kick in. We adore the energetic vibe that instantly reaches out and touches the listener.
As the main vocals drop, they masterfully take the reins of the single. The chorus is catchy, and it feels like an old friend returning each time it comes back around.
In addition, the guitar hooks are memorable and stay with the listener long after the music has ended. Also, the lyrics are relatable, and we are sure that ‘Shake Your Hair’ will please existing Golden Richards fans while simultaneously winning them an army of new ones too!
Comments
Band member Gil Golden says about the release, “I wrote the song about a time in my 20s when I was about to take the bar exam, and I was in a relationship that was going in the wrong direction.”

He continues, “I was working at a department store for extra money when I met someone there who knocked me out and make me rethink things, and I wanted to take her out. We ended up becoming close friends with bad timing.”
Influences
Golden Richards cites their influences as coming from artists such as Cheap Trick, Sloan, Fountains of Wayne, The Beatles, The Cars, and Weezer. Golden Richards stands shoulder to shoulder with any of these bands and makes music that needs to be heard!
Recording
Interestingly, the single was recorded in band member Billy Richard’s basement studio. We love the band’s DIY ethos, and the final sound is an honest and compelling one.
So make sure you add ‘Shake Your Hair’ to your new music playlist this week. Golden Richards is an exciting band who we look forward to hearing more from!
