Heidi Serwer – ‘Palm Tree On The Drywall’
Chicago-based artist Heidi Serwer has released the magnificent indie-folk EP, ‘Palm Tree On The Drywall’ today, 18th February 2022.
‘Anything Else, But’ opens the EP to a delicate piano before an acoustic guitar enters, followed by Serwer’s gentle vocals. Serwer instantly charms the listener with her soulful tone and draws the audience in.
We adore ‘Pine Needles’. With an infectious melody from the get-go, the scene is set. The staccato guitar and stripped back percussion lay a solid foundation before an expanded band enter and provide the perfect backing instrumentation for Serwer to shine.
The title track is gentle with relatable lyrics and laid-back instrumentation. Finally, ‘Vitamin D’ closes the release and leaves the listener wanting more!
Serwer says about the EP, “The record started as a few new tunes for an online February songwriting contest and grew into a way to mark one month during a cold, Chicago winter during the pandemic.”
She continues, ‘Pine Needles’ is the single releasing in advance of the record and is a catchy, fun tune celebrating life and the tiny items that can weave memories together.”
‘Palm Tree On The Drywall’ has been superbly recorded with artist and producer Steve Dawson at Kernel Sound Emporium in Chicago, Illinois. Together, Serwer and Dawson have created a timeless EP.
Serwer cites her influences as coming from artists such as Courtney Barnett, Sufjan Stevens, Wilco, and The Breeders. Serwer stands shoulder to shoulder with any of these artists. She is a superb songstress who is destined for big things with this latest EP Release.
So make sure you check out ‘Palm Tree On The Drywall’ this weekend. Heidi Serwer is a fantastic artist, and one we look forward to hearing more from in the future.
Until then, Palm Tree On The Drywall’ is available to stream from the link below. Enjoy!
