Jason Keisling – ‘Lyra’

Hailing from Washington, musician Jason Keisling has released the spellbinding single ‘Lyra’ this March 2021. It is a gorgeous post-rock release that needs to be heard!

A warm and enticing opening draws the listener in. We adore the layered instrumentation, which builds and evolves before the audience. As the drums drop, the gorgeous strings underpin the wonderful guitar, which takes the lead.

‘Lyra’ is an instrumental track that is filled with a lot of heart. Keisling knows how to write a song that takes the audience on unexpected twists and turns. In addition, the main melody is captivating and stays with the listener after the music has ended.

Keisling says about the release, “The song is named after my two-year-old daughter and dedicated to her. It’s an instrumental guitar-based track featuring some of my favourite riffs I’ve written over my lifetime, many of which I’ve had floating around for more than a decade.” He continues, “I like to think of this as me telling her about my life through music and what I wrote at various parts of my life.”

Jason Aaron Wood/Mat Leffler-Schulman

‘Lyra’ has been superbly self-recorded by Jason Keisling, mixed by Jason Aaron Wood and mastered by Mat Leffler-Schulman. Together, the team have done an excellent job in creating a single that will stand the test of time.

Jason Keisling cites his influences as coming from artists such as Pink Floyd, Radiohead, The Cure, Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros, and This Will Destroy You. Make no mistake, Keisling is making music all of his own!

So make sure that you add ‘Lyra’ to your playlist this week. Jason Keisling is a superb talent who we look forward to hearing more from in 2021. We thoroughly recommend checking out his back catalogue too!
