Marc Schuster – ‘Before The Boys’
Hailing from Havertown, musician Marc Schuster has released the excellent single ‘Before The Boys’ in April 2021. It is a singer-songwriter release that needs to be heard this Spring!
A bright and welcoming opening greets the listener. We adore the bouncy piano and vocals, which instantly inject the sonic spectrum with colour and texture. In addition, Schuster’s voice is filled with character and draws the listener in.
The instrumentation grows as the single evolves. We enjoyed the intelligent composition and arrangement that shines through and makes for a single which is rich in heart.
Marc Schuster knows how to write a catchy single. ‘Before The Boys’ is a classic song in the making, and it is a track that will have you reaching for the repeat button.
Schuster says about the release, “‘Before the Boys’ is a sparse but bouncy track about the pressure society puts on children to conform to gender roles. The track was recorded in a cabin a few hundred yards from Big Pink.” He continues, “Bob Dylan’s Basement Tapes and the Band’s Music from Big Pink (among others) inspired the sparse approach to recording.”
Influences
Schuster cites his influences as coming from artists such as The Beatles, The Monkees, The Shins and Belle and Sebastian. We can hear these muses coming through on ‘Before The Boys’ but make no mistake; Marc Schuster is making music all of his own.
