What is your earliest music memory?

My earliest music memory was playing on the congas to salsa music with my dad. Usually, on the weekends, my dad would wake me up to have fun and play some music with him. He loves salsa music, and he plays the conga for fun. There’s a picture of me in star sunglasses playing on the congas. I don’t actually know how to play the congas today, but it was always fun to play music with my dad.

Who or what got you into music?

My mom noticed from an early age that I loved to sing and all things music. My church was doing a Christmas play and was looking for kids to be in the choir. My mom signed me up. I might have been five, but I remember that musical moment profoundly. The experience inspired me to continue exploring music.

Who influenced your latest release?

My boyfriend influenced my last release. I was feeling intense emotions of being in love, and I wanted to express it through song. I felt like words were not enough to express how I felt, so I wrote a song about it.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Ali Tamposi & Ale Alberti. These songwriters are incredible. I’ve listened to their songs a lot that I can usually tell when a song is written by them. I love Ali’s writing style from Kelly Clarkson to Beyoncé to Dua Lipa. Ale is an amazing latin and pop songwriter. Her music is always so fresh. I love it! I started listening to her music after I heard her song ‘No Importa’ by Alaina Castillo.

What’s your dream venue to play?

The Super Bowl half time show. I know it’s not the typical venue people dream of, but it would be amazing to make it there. Everyone that has performed there is so incredible!

Other than music, what are you passionate about?

Travelling! I love travelling and learning about different cultures.

What changes would you like to see in the music business?

Increase royalties for songwriters. The royalties for songwriters are so low. They earn an average of .005 cents per stream so even if they reach a million streams on platforms like Spotify, they only earn $5,000. Some companies even want to lower the amount of royalties the songwriters earn.

How do you feel about how the internet plays a role in the music business today?

The internet plays a crucial role in connection, especially during this pandemic. It would be difficult to discover new music and connect without it.

If you could choose one thing for fans to take away from your music, what would it be?

I want my music to inspire others, feel connected, and make people feel good. Life is short so go live your life.

What is your favourite song to play live?

‘All I Ask’ by Adele or ‘Closer’ by me. These songs are so passionate, and I feel most connected to people when I perform these songs. Even though ‘All I Ask’ is by Adele, I perform the song like it is my story too and I think that connects with a lot of people.

Have you started working on your next release?

Yes! My new single ‘Closer’ is coming out September 18th. It’s a bilingual Latin song that I wrote with Frank Albrecht. It’s basically a love letter to my boyfriend expressing how much I miss him and how much better life will be when we are together again. The pandemic caused our relationship to become a long-distance one. Also, this song was created, recorded, and produced remotely through zoom sessions. Here is the presave link!
