We caught up with musician SARAH KRIMSON for a quick interview following the release of ‘With You’, enjoy now!
How did you first get into music?
I remember I always loved music, and I loved to sing. I always got chosen to sing in school plays, so I became naturally interested in pursuing this career.
Who influenced your latest release, ‘With You’?
I got my inspiration from ‘Mrs Dalloway’ by Virginia Woolf and ‘The Oval Portrait’ by Edgar Allan Poe. You can tell this song has that melancholic vibe; it’s about living with depression.
‘With You’ was written in 2015; why release it now?
Only because I wrote it when I had no access to a studio, then, when I moved to London and finally recorded it professionally, I knew the time had come!
‘With You’ is dark-wave at its finest; what draws you to the genre?
I love minor key tonalities and the sound of strings, piano, synth – also, I always want to tell a story when I sing. I like being able to convey a powerful and emotional message with my music, and I think that is what dark-wave is all about!
What motivates you to make music?
I want to tell stories and to tell people that it’s ok to be a little different.
What’s your favourite venue to play?
Any open-mic in a dimmed-lighted cosy pub.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
To bring back the passion, not only the numbers count.
What new music are you listening to at the moment?
I’ve been listening to Lady Gaga’s latest album!
What musical plans do you have for the next two years?
I want to reach as many people as possible and release new music!
