Nantokanaru – ‘Emotional Damage Wreckage’

Hailing from Prague, the superb band Nantokanaru released their stunning EP ‘Emotional Damage Wreckage’ in 2022. It is an alternative-rock release that you need to hear!

‘Omatsuri’ opens the release with a staccato and hard-hitting beginning, drawing the listener in and holding their attention effortlessly. We adore the punchy production and charismatic vocal performance that injects the piece with further layers of interest.

‘Emotional Damage Wreckage’ is guitar-heavy from the get-go with skilful riffs. We adore the change in the song’s direction as it evolves, taking the listener on unexpected twists and turns. Layered instrumentation fills the sonic spectrum with luscious colour.

Finally, ‘In The Light’ closes the release and leaves the listener reaching for the repeat button. A gorgeous string arrangement sings out, and the relatable lyrics touch the listener. It is an intelligently composed song that needs to be heard!

Nantokanaru says about the title track, “(‘Emotional Damage Wreckage’) reflects upon the despondency of an emotionally torn individual facing solitude within the urban jungle of Tokyo. Inspired by the intercultural struggles of guitarist Igor Prusa during his ten years spent in Japan, the story is conveyed through both melancholic, introspective vocals and primal outbursts laid over a backdrop of syncopated grooves, classical guitar lines, and unorthodox textures.”
