Normal Behaviour – ‘Thimble’
Hailing from Swansea, musician Normal Behaviour has released the magnificent folk-pop EP ‘Thimble’ in February 2022.
‘Mascot’ opens the release to inviting melodies and warm vocals. Normal Behaviour instantly makes the listener feel like he is singing directly to them. The chorus is memorable and stays with the listener after the music has ended.
We enjoyed ‘Death wish’, which has a dream-like quality to it. Lyrically, Normal Behaviour is a brilliant storyteller who allows the audience into his world.
The title track ‘Thimble’ has a darker feel to what we have heard previously. It is a brilliant juxtaposition that keeps the EP varied and layered. Finally, ‘Better’ closes the release and leaves the audience wanting more!
Normal Behaviour records all of his material at his home studio using a Tascam DP-006 and GarageBand. With ‘Thimble’, he has achieved a warm and inviting production quality that draws the listener in and instantly makes them feel at ease and home.
Comments
Normal Behaviour (AKA Guy Nicholas Challenger) is a multitalented artist destined to make waves with this latest release. Challenger says about his music, “Normal Behaviour is a project dear to my heart.” He continues, “The four tracks are about mental well being, peer pressure, the music industry and believing in yourself.”
Influences
Normal Behaviour cites his influences as coming from artists such as Biffy Clyro, Daniel Johnston, Death Cab For Cutie, Kurt Vile, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Elliott Smith. We can hear these influences coming through on ‘Thimble’ but make no mistake; Challenger is an artist making innovative music all of his own.
So, make sure you add ‘Thimble’ to your playlist this weekend. Normal Behaviour is an artist who is just getting started, and we very much anticipate what he will do next. Until then, ‘Thimble’ is available from the link below; enjoy today!
