One Cure for Man (AKA James Parkinson) has released his superb latest single ‘The Haunted’. This indie-rock song was officially released today 28th May 2020.

A solo piano opens release before the beat kicks in. James’s vocals are warm and enticing with compelling melodies too. The vocals soar in the piece offering their unique colour and texture to the single. An electric guitar solo lifts the piece too. We adored the lyrics which are relatable and poetic. Also, we loved the attention-grabbing video, which accompanies the release. However, if you have a clown phobia, one does feature – you have been warned!

The video is inspired by the life of James’s friend and celebrates his incredibly colourful and vivacious character. James says about the video “(They had) love for music, art, films from the highest arthouse to the most popular of pop culture. Its aesthetics take inspiration from the paintings of Edward Hopper, specifically the clown in ‘Soir Bleu’ and the scene from ‘New York Apartment.’”

James continues, “The song is a collection of thoughts on how today’s ever-changing world of social media creates a false and damaging perception of the lives around us. Many of us find ourselves feeling envy at what we see through the lens of our friends social media presence, only to learn much later about the suffering behind the smiles.”

Ever thought-provoking and always compelling, One Cure for Man is a unique artist. We thoroughly enjoyed ‘The Haunted’, and we are looking forward to checking out his past releases too. Make sure you add this innovative single to your weekend playlist!
