Roadkeeper – ‘Downs’

Hailing from Texas, Roadkeeper is an indie-pop band who have released their brilliant latest single ‘Downs’, in July 2020.

Mysterious synths open the single. From here, further layered synths appear, and a harmonious balance is reached. The full band sound kicks in, and the listener’s attention is drawn to the music.

We love the melodic bass, layered guitars and charismatic vocal performance. Lyrically, the song is relatable, and this is a big part of Roadkeeper’s charm. They connect with the audience effortlessly.

The familiar synths reenter, and they feel like an old friend returning. There is a wonderful vibe to ‘Downs’, it is laid back but driving at the same time. ‘Downs’ is composition at its finest.

‘Downs’ is Roadkeeper’s sixth single release. The band say about the song, “Downs” is a personal contemplation of impostor syndrome and not finding one’s place within the cultural and sociopolitical zeitgeist. With this track, the band built a soundscape of analogue synthesizers and acoustic guitars to reinforce the lyric and texturize the song’s simple, two-chord progression.”

Roadkeeper is comprised of band members John H – Guitar, Piano, Synth, Vocals, Trevor T – Guitar, Daniel Z – Bass, and Nick C – Drums. Separately they are all excellent musicians, but when they come together, magic happens.

‘Downs’ has been produced, recorded & mixed by moodvayne aka John Hetherington and mastered by TW Walsh. Together, the team have done an excellent job in creating a piece of art that will stand the test of time.

So make sure you add Downs’ to your weekend playlist. Roadkeeper is an exciting and prolific band; we very much look forward to hearing what will come next.
