Secret Treehouse – ‘Broken Soul’

Norway based band Secret Treehouse, are back with their brilliant second single ‘Broken Soul’. Released on 13th March 2020, it is a captivating and addictive listen.

Luscious vocals are apparent from the get-go, masterfully guiding the piece. They are underpinned by layered synths which create wonderful interest and intrigue. The drums are driving, adding a staccato feel with a short and snappy snare. Guitars add extra emotion to the piece, and the luscious melodies are catchy and memorable.

The band say, “Secret Treehouse is about a form of escapism. The place you retreat to when you need some distance and escape from reality. Secret Treehouse is set out on an everlasting quest to find the perfect melody.” We think they have certainly achieved this with ‘Broken Soul’.

Secret Treehouse cites their influences as coming from, öödöö, Anja Kløve & the Boys to Kiss, Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, and David Bowie. You can hear these artists coming through in the music, but Secret Treehouse make a sound all of their own.

A true DIY band, we salute Secret Treehouse for the incredible music they are producing. ‘Broken Soul’ follows the release of the band’s debut album in 2019. They are clearly incredibly talented and hard-working musicians who are passionate about what they do. This drive to create impacting and lasting music can be felt on ‘Broken Soul’. There is also an impressive back catalogue of music the band have released. We can not wait to delve into that too!

So make sure you add ‘Broken Soul’ to your playlist this weekend. Secret Treehouse are a band who are destined for big things, and we can not wait to see what they will do next.
