Shauna Burns – “Scarborough Fair”

Shauna Burns is musician based in mountains just outside of Salt Lake City. Her cover of “Scarborough Fair” is a new twist on a classic cover.

The beautiful Piano arrangement at the beginning is very reminiscent of Tori Amos, the style being gentle and delicate yet, hard hitting.

Burns’s voice is warm but vulnerable, the perfect accompaniment to such a powerful song. The nod to Tori Amos comes back again in the breathy delivery of the last verse before the instrumental break.

There are minimal instruments in this version but the song never feels lost, the skill in  the piano playing and delivery of the vocals makes for a compelling listen.
