Songs For Sabotage – ‘Night Of Joy’
Hailing from Los Angeles, Songs For Sabotage have released their excellent latest album ‘Night Of Joy’, in September 2020.
‘Sabotage’ opens the release and instantly charms the listener. The jangly guitars and melodic bass lay the stoic foundations for the charming vocals to shine. ‘Urgency’ is another stunning track. The main melody is captivating and will have the listener reaching for the repeat button!
‘Metal’ has an enticing groove from the get-go. The unusual and unexpected chordal progressions keep the audience thoroughly compelled. ‘Dust’ is a standout song. It evolves with the listener and is compelling. ‘Cuts You Up’ closes the release and leaves the listener wanting more.
Songs For Sabotage are comprised of band members Lina Sophie & Richey Rose. The duo are both excellent musicians and ‘Night Of Joy’ is a culmination of their talents.
The duo says, “We wrote and recorded these songs in Richey’s old Ludlow Street apartment and also at our former rehearsal spot in DUMBO. They were conceived during what would become our final year in the city, though we didn’t realize it at the time.”
They continue, “‘Night of Joy’ is our version of melancholy New York; the empty subway ride at 3 am, feeling used by never-ending nightlife, or cursing someone’s name while being caught in a downpour with a sh*tty umbrella. Our attitudes have changed since then, but they were definitely captured on tape here.”
This seven-track album is a must-hear release this Autumn 2020. It is alternative-rock at it’s finest and Songs For Sabotage are definitely a band to watch in the 2020s.
We can not recommend ‘Night Of Joy’ highly enough and we recommend adding it to your playlist this weekend. We look forward to what will come next from this formidable duo!
