SPIRITBOX – ‘Alabaster’
Hailing from Breda (The Netherlands), SPIRITBOX are a brilliant band who are making waves this winter 2020. Their latest single release, ‘Alabaster’ is a punchy alternative-rock song with a big heart.
An atmospheric electric guitar opens the release. It sets the scene beautifully as to what is to come. As the characterful vocals enter, they masterfully guide the track along.
Marching drums and stoic bass enter and the single is in full flow. We adore the chorus, which has a beautiful groove. The intelligent arrangement lets the song build with compelling melodies. The haunting backing instrumentation is magical and builds into a huge rock sound. Turn those speakers up – this is a song that needs to be heard loud and proud.
The band say about the single, “‘Alabaster’ is an honest, lugubrious laudation of a passing shuddered with a lyrical moroseness and emotional devastation.” It is a hard-hitting song which is destined to please existing SPIRITBOX fans while simultaneously winning them an army of new ones too!
Band Members
SPIRITBOX is comprised of band members Nick van Eekelen – guitar, Ruben Schimmel – guitar, Hans Meertens – vocals, keys, Tomas Dekkers – drums, and Jasper Janssens – bass. They are all excellent musicians in their own right, but when they come together, magic happens.
This formidable band formed in 2018 and have gone from strength to strength ever since. They have played at festivals such as Breda Barst and Freeze, and have been commissioned by the Dutch Cultural Heritage Platform, Erfgoed Brabant, to compose a piece of music about the region’s cultural history.
‘Alabaster’ is taken from the highly anticipated upcoming album ‘Milk’. Due for release on 4th December 2020 we can not wait for the full album to drop.
