mad-watchLos Angeles based songwriter, The Black Watch has released his latest single, ‘Mad’. Real name, John Andrew Fredrick, The Black Watch has released a song which is catchy, charismatic and thoroughly engaging from the beginning to the end.

‘Mad’ opens and we hear a chordal riff which is repeated and begins to sound instantly recognisable very early on. The vocals are upbeat and double-tracked which give weight to the piece. We adored the bass and drums as they drive the single along in style. We found the verse lyrics to be sung in a way that is almost spoken, this is a very effective way for them to be delivered. The dreamy chorus is an indie-pop sensation. It is driving and infectious with charming lyrics to boot. The guitar solo towards the end is thoroughly melodic and charismatic. The single ends on a fade which leaves the listener wanting more!

‘Mad’ certainly got us in the mood for summer. The Black Watch’s sound reminds us of The Cure in places, but make no mistake he is an artist with a sound all of his own and this single is destined to make waves amongst the indie scene.

With a huge back catalog of 17 CD’s, it is of no surprise that ‘Mad’ is the high standard and quality single that it is. It is set to be proceeded by The Black Watch’s hugely anticipated 17 track album, ‘The Magic Johnson’. It is due for its official release on 8th August 2019.
