The Dirty Pennies – ‘Waste Away’

‘Waste away’ is the latest single by the Rochester based band, The Dirty Pennies. It is an alternative rock single that will have you reaching for the repeat button!

A big and dynamic opening greets the listener. We adore the exciting guitars that fill the sonic spectrum. They are layered and filled with a luscious texture.

As the charming vocals enter the song is in full flow. We found the melody to be infectious, and this is a big part of the song’s charm. The bass and drums lay a solid foundation for the rest of the instrumentation to spring from. Lyrically, ‘Waste Away’ is interesting and will resonate with the audience.

We love the tempo change halfway through the single. It takes the audience on an unexpected turn and keeps the single feeling fresh and innovating.

Comments

The band say about the release, “‘Waste Away’ offers an experience that thrusts the listener into themes of attention deficit, cynicism, and apathetic viewpoints influenced by the obsession or disdain for social media and TV which drive our narcissistic society.”

The single has been recorded, mixed and mastered at Wicked Squid Studios in Rochester. The team have done an excellent job in creating a single that sets The Dirty Pennies as a band to watch this Autumn 2020.

We are big fans of The Dirty Pennies and after hearing ‘Waste Away,’ it’s easy to see why. They are a driving band who are continually pushing forward and making music that needs to be heard!

So make sure you add ‘Waste Away’ to your weekday playlist. The Dirty Pennies are a band who are going from strength to strength, and we very much look forward to hearing what will come next!
