The Kelly Line – ‘Manifesto’
The Cardiff-based band, The Kelly Line, released the must-hear album ‘Manifesto’ in March 2022. It is a folk-rock record that will have you reaching for the repeat button this Spring.
‘Manifesto I+II’ opens the release to an atmospheric beginning. It is a song that evolves before the listener from an acoustic opening into a full band anthem.
‘I Never Promised You Flowers’ is a gentle and heartfelt song that reaches out and touches the listener. We adore the vocal performance that fills the sonic spectrum with heart.
In addition, ‘Gravy Train’ is a standout song. Compelling strings underpin deeply relatable lyrics. ‘Bells’ has a gritty feel set to an upbeat tempo and passionate vocal performance. Finally, ‘Manifesto III’ closes the album and leaves the audience wanting more!
The Kelly line is a father/son songwriting duo. Comprised of Mike and Ben, they are a formidable team making current and compelling music.
The Kelly Line say about their music, “People often ask us how it works – writing songs with your Dad/son. To be honest, we don’t really think of it like that. We’re just songwriting partners who enjoy sharing a beer – which Mike (Dad) always buys!”
The band cites their influences as coming from artists such as Billy Bragg and Frank Turner. We can hear these muses coming through on ‘Manifesto’ but make no mistake; The Kelly Line are making music all of their own!
So make sure you add ‘Manifesto’ to your new music playlist this week. The Kelly Line are a driven band making music that needs to be heard to be fully appreciated. We very much look forward to hearing what they will do next!
Until then, ‘Manifesto’ is available to stream from the link below; enjoy today!
