The XO – ‘What A Waste’
Hailing from Dallas, The XO are an alternative-rock band whose latest single ‘What A Waste’, is a must-hear release this Autumn 2020.
An attention-grabbing opening greets the listener. We adore the layered vocals that open the single. They instantly set the song alight and as the beat drops the song is in full flow. There is a wonderful texture to the piece that has a luscious rise and fall.
We adore the innovative production which feels fresh and exciting. In addition, there are memorable melodies which will have the listener reaching for the repeat button. The single evolves with the listener getting heavier and darker as the track progresses.

The XO is comprised of band members Jake Harris, Andre Casares and Tanner Vaughn Stephen. They are all clearly excellent musicians, and this is demonstrated on ‘What A Waste’.
The trio says about the release, “We really want to find our sound with this track. It bridges from a modern rock-pop band mixed in with dark emo rap. While both styles are incredibly popular, it was incredibly difficult to find the perfect blend of the two.”

‘What A Waste’ was recorded at Wax Studio with Geoff Rockwell (Forever the Sickest Kids, Memphis May Fire, and Artist vs Poet). Together the team have done an excellent job in creating a single that will stand the test of time.
We can not recommend ‘What A Waste’ highly enough. The XO are a band who are just getting started, and we believe there is much more to come from them in the 2020s.
