‘Noise’ opens the EP to airy, breathy vocals that inject the sonic spectrum with vivid colour. FitzGerald’s warm and soulful lead vocal takes the song’s reins and effortlessly captivates the audience.
‘Way Up’ is a standout song that features layered instrumentation that evolves before the listener. Lyrically, it is a relatable song. FitzGerald allows us to feel less alone together.
In addition, ‘Good Like That’ is an addictive song. With a beautiful piano and well-arranged horn section, it is a track that will have you reaching for the repeat button. ‘Outro’ closes the release, and left us wanting more!
FitzGerald says about making music, “Showing up and doing the thing is all you can do; the rest is out of your control.” She continues, “At times, that seems completely daunting, but in a weird way, it’s also pretty empowering and exciting.”
Thea FitzGerald cites her influences as coming from artists such as Paul Kelly, the Pretenders, Crowded House and Tina Arena. We can hear these muses coming through on ‘Falling Forward’ but make no mistake, FitzGerald is making music all of her own.
Thea FitzGerald is a profoundly relatable troubadour who is making complex yet relatable music. She is continually pushing boundaries. ‘Falling Forward’ is the third EP from this talented songstress, and we can not wait to check out her back catalogue too.
