Birmingham-based blues-rock powerhouse Rebecca Downes returns with ‘A Storm Is Coming’, her sixth studio album and boldest release yet. Out on 31st October 2025 via her own label Mad Hat Records, the ten-track collection charts an emotional journey from turmoil to triumph.
The title track ‘A Storm Is Coming’ opens the release to moody instrumentation and alluring melodies. We adore the vocal performances that instantly take the listener by the hand and hold our attention effortlessly.
In addition, ‘Hold The Reins’ is a standout track that is fuelled by magnetic melodies, edgy guitars and stunning vocal performances. Moreover, ‘Tear Me Up’ takes the album in a fresh direction with an acoustic opening before the punchy, energy-filled instrumentation kicks in.
Finally, ‘Bitter Taste’ is one of our favourite tracks, it is complete with heartfelt lyrics, broody melodies and excellent musicianship. One thing is for sure: ‘A Storm Is Coming’ is an album that stands apart from the noise.
