Begut – ‘Like A Girl’

The superb London based artist Begut, has released her latest single ‘Like A Girl’ today, 6th March 2020.

Gorgeous harmonies open the release before Begut’s stunning solo vocals appear. The textured guitars and drums add their colour to the piece. The addition of the keys ties all of the instrumentation together. We loved the chordal progression too with the addition of changing from major to minor enhancing the unpredictable twists and turns that this single takes.

‘Like A Girl’ lets us into Begut’s world as a young woman and she offers a bold and comforting helping hand throughout the single. Begut says, “It was inspired by a Nike spot that shows women in sport doing things that are considered crazy in society.” Begut continues, “The track carries a youthful hope, it is a scream for freedom and self-expression.” This is the theme of the artist’s debut EP, that will be released in May 2020. We are so excited to hear it!

Originally from Zaragoza, located in the North of Spain, Begut is a unique talent. This 20-year-old is a hard-working musician. In 2016 she created Begut the Band, a trio ensemble that started to build a fanbase and sold out their debut concert at Teatro Arbolé. She also performed in the Aragonese Music Awards reaching a wider audience by being broadcast on local television and having several radio interviews in Aragón Radio. In June 2018 she won the Vinyl Scratch (open mic) competition at Tileyard Studios, London, and received mentoring sessions from the head of Big Indie Records. She was also featured on The Lumineers ́ Instagram singing her reharmonized version of their song ‘Dead Sea’.

We can not recommend Begut enough. Empowering and unique, ‘Like A Girl’ is an exceptional song which needs to be heard to be fully appreciated.
