Hailing from Austria, Vienna, musician Ben Leven has released his superb latest single, ‘Double Time’.
Palm muted guitars open the release with a subtle synth underpinning them. Leven’s unmistakable vocals then breakthrough. They are filled with charm and charisma from the beginning. The bridge opens up the instrumentation and takes the single in a new direction. We found the chorus to be catchy, and it is destined to have you reaching for the repeat button.
A love song at heart, Leven sings, “Every night you’re sleeping by my side, my heart beats double time, and I can’t get no sleep,” followed by, “I started thinking, you’re the best thing that has ever happened to me.” ‘Double Time’ is a win for the lovers out there! There is also a beautiful video which accompanies the release. It is as vibrant in colour as the music is and it is the perfect accompaniment to the lively groove of the song. Check it out below!
Leven describes his influences as, Mark Knopfler, Ed Sheeran, Ryan Keen, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Pink Floyd, Queen, and U2. We can hear these formidable artists coming through Leven’s music but make no mistake; Ben Leven makes a sound all of his own.
Leven’s debut album, ‘What Lies Behind’ was released in 2018. Leven describes it as, “Charismatic pop songs meet driving beats, atmospheric guitars meet wide choirs – all hand-made and real.” Based on the strength of ‘Double Time’, we can not wait to check out his back catalogue too!
Released officially on 14th February 2020, ‘Double Time’ is out now. We are so excited to have discovered this artist, and we can not wait to see what he will do next.
