Hailing Ishimura – ‘We Did It To Survive’

Coming from the U.S, the excellent duo Hailing Ishimura have released the stunning post-rock single ‘We Did It To Survive’. It is a release you need to hear this Summer.

‘We Did It To Survive’ swims into the sonic spectrum with gorgeous guitars and a stoic beat. We adore the dark and foreboding vibe that sets the scene for what is to come.

Excellent synths take the main melody and inject luscious colour into the piece. The listener is taken by the hand and leads a wondrous journey filled with unexpected twists and turns.

In addition, the superb guitars fill the piece with a luscious texture, and we adore the production that brings all of the layered instrumentation together. Simply superb.

Band Members

The band comprises of members Dom Hopson – Guitar, Bass, Synthesizer and Chris True – Guitar, Bass. They are clearly passionate musicians who love what they do, and magic happens when they come together.

Influences

Hailing Ishimura cites their influences as coming from artists such as Brand New, The Beatles, Coheed & Cambria, Lamb of God, If These Trees Could Talk, and The Early November. We can hear these muses coming through on ‘We Did It To Survive’, but make no mistake, Hailing Ishimura is making music all of their own!

Hailing Ishimura says about the release, “‘We Did It To Survive’ finds the adventurers at their most desperate. They are dead in the water, and they have to make hard decisions. The vibe of the track embodies this completely. It’s dark and brooding but light at times.” They continue, “This track needed to be dark to help convey this part of the story that we are trying to tell on our album. We leaned into heavier tones to help create the vibe we were looking for.”
