Houston Ayre – ‘Concurrence’
Musician Houston Ayre released the stunning album, ‘Concurrence,’ in June 2024. It is a gorgeous release that stays with the listener long after the music has ended.
‘Where Are You Going’ opens the release with inviting melodies and captivating musicianship. We adore the track’s evolution; the instrumentation weaves in and out, creating texture and taking the listener on an unpredictable, exciting journey.
‘Are You Nearly There Yet?’ is the follow-up track, complete with staccato melodies. As the full band kicks in, the listener is entranced. Moreover, ‘Transitions’ is a standout track with a distinctively classical feel that gorgeously mixes with a full rock sound. Ayre blends the two opposing genres together intelligently and seamlessly.
As ‘Angel’s Theme’ begins, it takes the audience in a fresh direction, and the evolution of the arrangement is spellbinding. ‘Do Angels Dance (In 5/4 Time)?’ demonstrates world-class musicianship in the guitar licks and will have you reaching for the repeat button.
Finally, ‘Concerto for Electric Guitar in F Major’ closes the release to a groovy and energetic vibe. We adore the driving rhythm section, dancing bass, and cleverly arranged instrumentation.
‘Concurrence’ is different from anything we have heard from Ayre, demonstrating that his talents go deeper than rock music.

Ayre says about the release, “This has been a different project for me in which musical inspiration has come in small parcels, and much of the work in building these into tracks and an album has been about how to fit all the small pieces together to make six larger pieces and then one coherent musical experience.”
He continues, “That said, several things are consistent with my previous work, such as the use of electric guitar as the sole instrument used in the composition of the music.”
Seventh Album
Ayre, a prolific writer, has now reached his 7th release with ‘Concurrence’. Each of his albums, including this one, is a testament to his growth as an artist as he continues to explore new musical territories and deliver exceptional songwriting.
