Lake Palmer – ‘Vagrants’

Melbourne-based band Lake Palmer has released the must-hear album ‘Vagrants’. It is an indie-folk release that you need to hear this Autumn 2022.

‘Take My Life’ opens the release and instantly demands the listener’s attention. We love the warm production that entices the audience in. In addition, ‘Spit In My Face’ is a stunning song with layered instrumentation, passionate vocal performances and memorable melodies.

We love ‘Fear’, from the acoustic guitar opening to the relatable lyrics; it is a song with integrity that touches the listener’s heart. Moreover, ‘Closing Time’ features excellent musicianship, wonderful harmonies and an intelligent arrangement.

Finally, ‘Take Me Home’ closes the album to a poignant song that ties the release up perfectly. ‘Vagrants’ is an album that needs to be heard to be fully appreciated.

Band

Lake Palmer were formed by childhood friends Lee French (mandolin/vocals) and Dom DiBlasio (slide guitar). The band soon evolved into a six-piece band, including a stand-up drummer, violin, accordion/banjo and a second acoustic guitar.

Album Release

Initially, ‘Vagrants’ was recorded in 2013 and was originally due for release in 2014. Tragically, Dom DiBlasio passed away between the recording and release of this superb album, and it was never released when planned.

2016 saw a soft release of the record on Bandcamp, but it has taken until now for ‘Vagrants’ to be available on Spotify and all major platforms for the first time.

Proud

One thing is for sure, the remaining Lake Palmer members have made Dom DiBlasio proud by finishing and releasing this excellent record. It is a cohesive piece of art that draws the listener in and holds our attention effortlessly.

‘Vagrants’ is an album that will stand the test of time, and we are honoured to have been able to write about the release.

We can not recommend ‘Vagrants’ highly enough; listen to it today.
