Luan Mei – ‘Yellow’
Brighton-based artist Luan Mei has released her superb latest single ‘Yellow’, in June 2020. It is an indie-pop single that is making waves this summer.
A soulful electric guitar opens the release. It is soon accompanied by Luan Mei’s vocals which are filled with character. We love the changes in the rhythm hand of her guitar playing. From smooth strumming, a rhythmic pattern breaks through and soon changes again. It adds texture and luscious colour to the piece.
Lyrically, ‘Yellow’ is relatable and this is a big part of the artists’s charm. She knows how to connect with the listener and holds their attention effortlessly. ‘Yellow’ will please existing L.M fans while simultaneously winning her an army of new ones too.

Luan Mei says about the release, “‘Yellow’ is a song which portrays a real love story between two female artists, a musician and a poet, and how feelings evolve between them and their art. Within the story, both women discover a specific kind of freedom they did not experience before, which wraps them into a colourful, summery love bubble creating a very delicate and intense relationship between them.”
L.M also says, “(‘Yellow’ brings) a different story to the industry this June, Pride month, and it is essential to give voice to all the people from the LGBTQ+ collective who are not able to live freely, through making visible all types of love and stories.”
