Lupis – ‘Probably Fine’

Hailing from Rochester, the superb band Lupis have released their must-hear album, ‘Probably Fine’. It is an alternative-rock release you do not want to miss this Winter of 2022.

‘Catsup Packet’ opens the release with an attention-grabbing opening and sets the scene wonderfully as to what is to come. In addition, ‘Mealworm’ is a stand-out song which opens with an intriguing riff that evolves before the listener. We love the intelligent composition and build to a big, effective chorus.

Moreover, ‘Try Again’ takes the album in a fresh direction with a dissonant guitar, layered vocals and memorable melodies. We adore ‘Liberry Bush’; it features a warm production, textured guitars and addictive lyrics.

Finally, ‘In My Way’ closes the release perfectly. ‘Probably Fine’ is a release that needs to be heard to be fully appreciated!

Band members

Lupis comprises band members, Spaz Spaziani – Guitar/Vocals, Alex J. Bellanca – Bass and Justin O’Donoghue – Drums. They are a trio who are clearly excellent musicians in their respective fields, but when they play together, magic happens.

Influences

Lupis cites their influences as coming from bands such as the Pixies, Babes In Toyland, Nirvana, The Jesus Lizard, Hum, Speedy Ortiz, Foo Fighters, Haybaby, The Ghost Ease, and Screaming Females. We can hear these muses coming through on ‘Probably Fine’, but Lupis is making music all of their own.

Comments

Lupis say about this excellent release, “There are obvious influences of 90s alternative and grunge, but there’s no real intent to sound that way, specifically.”

‘Probably Fine’ has been recorded by Spaz Spaziani, mixed by Spaz and Joe Teresi and finally mastered by Joe, in Fairport, NY. Together the team have created a body of work that hears Lupis stand out from the crowd.

So make sure you add ‘Probably Fine’ to your new music playlist this week!
