Mark Winters – ‘Boundary Layer’
Hailing from Texas, musician Mark Winters has released the excellent album ‘Boundary Layer’. It is an Americana classic, filled with a lot of heart!
The title track opens the album to an upbeat and dynamic feel with a staccato rhythm and charismatic vocals. We adore the catchy chorus that stays with the listener long after the music has ended.
‘Underground’ is a standout song. From the opening addictive riff to the unpredictable chordal progression, it keeps the listener on their toes.
In addition, ‘Signal’ is inviting from the get-go. We love the stoic rhythm section and layered guitars that fill the sonic spectrum with vivid colour. Finally, ‘Swaying Tree’ closes the release and leaves the listener reaching for the repeat button.
Winters says about his music, “I write about the good people, places and things I find on my journey (glass 3/4 full kind of guy). My grandmother taught me the love of poetry when I was a young boy (5!), and I have always enjoyed sharing my thoughts and emotions in that way.” He continues, “As I became a musician, the joy of sharing my perspectives in song with others (especially live!) really hooked me and transformed my life into an amazing musical journey.”
Mark Winters cites his influences as coming from artists such as Tom Petty, John Mayer, and Jason Mraz. We can hear these muses coming through on ‘Boundary Layer’, and Winters stands shoulder to shoulder with any of these artists.
‘Boundary Layer’ is an energetic and upbeat release that strikes its listeners’ hearts. We are thrilled to have discovered this album. It is the second album from this fantastic artist, and we can not wait to track down his debut release too.
So make sure you add ‘Boundary Layer’ to your new music playlist; you will not be disappointed!
