Night’s Bright Colors – ‘Palette’
Hailing from Asheville, Night’s Bright Colors has released the excellent album ‘Palette’. It is an indie-folk release that you need to hear this summer.
‘Blue Eyes/Love In The Asylum’ opens the release with wonderfully layered vocals and guitars. The lyrics shine at the forefront of the mix and instantly demand the listener’s attention. The two tracks effortlessly transition from one to another.
‘Secret Smile’ is a catchy song with an upbeat vibe and intriguing lyrics. We adore the harmonies and layered instrumentation that fills the sonic spectrum with texture.
In addition, ‘Little Lies’ is an intelligently composed and arranged song with affecting lyrics. It is our favourite track on the album; there is a character in the vocal performance which is addictive.
‘Penelope Tree’ is another brilliant track that is memorable and stays with the listener long after the music has ended. Finally, ‘Family House’ closes the release with a moving and affecting vibe.
Night’s Bright Colors says about this superb full album release, “This compilation comes from over 15 years of recordings. Night’s Bright Colors has been a passion project for two decades.” He continues, “In ‘Secret Smile’ and ‘One Star Saint’, I wanted to write as close to a pop song was I was able to.” Objective achieved!
Night’s Bright Colors (AKA Jason Smith) is a talented artist who reaches out and relates to his audience. ‘Palette’ is a rich album that will stand the test of time. It is a prime example of why we hope the album never dies. This thirteen-track release works so well when listened to as a whole, so take 40 minutes out of your day and turn the volume up!
‘Palette’ has been wonderfully recorded by artist Jason Smith and superbly mastered by Adam McDaniel (Animal Collective). Together, the duo have created an album that will stand the test of time. We can not wait to hear what will come next.
