SALT – ‘Fairytale On Fire’
Edinburgh-based band SALT has released the brilliant album ‘Fairytale On Fire’. It is a pop-punk release that will strike at the heart of its listeners this Summer.
‘Halo’ opens the release to a melodic bass before the punchy and driving instrumentation kicks in. We adore the charismatic vocals and compelling lyrics.
‘The Sea Wakes’ is a stand-out track. From the atmospheric guitar opening, it is a song that evolves before the listener. We love the staccato nature of the instrumentation, which creates texture in the piece.
‘Tumbleweed’ takes the album in a fresh direction with a pop feel and relatable lyrics. The dynamic rhythm section provides a solid foundation for the vocals to shine.
In addition, ‘Dust’ is a song with an attitude that reaches out and touches the listener. Finally, ‘I Gotta Go’ closes the release and leaves the listener reaching for the repeat button!
Comments
SALT say about this release, “‘Fairytale’ is a brave album we are told, we don’t just stick to one genre, we are songwriters. Each song is a journey into Sharon’s world. She writes from the heart – resulting in an emotional journey that is not necessarily a comfortable journey.”

Band Members
SALT is comprised of band members Sharon Woods (Vocalist), Robin woods (Guitars), Simon Kettles (Bass), and James King (Drums, Keyboards). They are all excellent musicians in their respective fields, but magic happens when they come together.
Influences
SALT cite their influences as coming from bands and artists such as Nick Cave, The Marine Girls, The Pixies, Ennio Morricone, the Who, and X-Ray Spex. We can hear these muses coming through on ‘Fairytale On Fire’, but SALT is a band that stands shoulder to shoulder with any of these artists.
We are thrilled to have discovered SALT; they are a band who are pushing boundaries and writing relevant, relatable and exciting music that needs to be heard to be fully appreciated. We can’t recommend ‘Fairytale On Fire’ highly enough!
