STRlighT Reflects on Memory and Hope with ‘Ever Lasting (永·恒)’
Chinese producer and DJ STRlighT’s second studio album, ‘Ever Lasting (永·恒)’, moves between calm, reflective moments and tracks with a stronger rhythmic pull. Written over two years, the record draws on memories of youth, including experiences that still leave a trace and others worth holding onto. Its electronic foundations make room for piano, strings, guitar and atmospheric details, giving the album space to change mood from track to track.
From Rainfall to Rhythm
‘The Rain That Had Been Falling Relentlessly’ opens with the sound of rain and a gentle melody. It is an inviting way into the record: the track begins quietly, then gains momentum as the instrumentation grows. I enjoyed that gradual build. It gives the opening room to breathe before drawing you further into the album.
‘December’ stands out for its emotive performance and lyrics. There is a directness to the song that suits the album’s focus on looking back. ‘Now With Me By Your Side’ brings a different energy, driven by its rhythm and an arrangement that gives each part room to contribute. The shift between these tracks is one of the things I enjoyed most: the album can linger on a feeling, then find movement without losing its reflective tone.
A Change of Pace
‘Stargazers’ is another highlight. Its dreamy production and layered instrumentation create a sense of space, while the melody keeps the track close and memorable. I found myself returning to the contrast between its gentler atmosphere and the more driving feel of ‘Now With Me By Your Side’. Those changes in pace help ‘Ever Lasting’ feel like a journey through different memories, rather than a collection of songs that all express the same emotion in the same way.

Final Thoughts on ‘Ever Lasting (永·恒)’
‘Fairytale’ closes the album on a satisfying note. By that point, STRlighT has explored regret, comfort and anticipation through both quieter passages and fuller arrangements. What stays with me is the care taken over those changes in mood. ‘Ever Lasting (永·恒)’ is an enjoyable, thoughtful listen, especially if you like electronic music that leaves room for melody and reflection.
