Sombertrap – ‘The Distance (between Before And After)’
Hailing from Halmstad, Sombertrap has released the must-hear single ‘The Distance (between Before And After)’. It is a cinematic release that needs to be heard to be fully appreciated this Winter.
A solo piano opens the release and gently swims into the sonic spectrum. We adore the minor chordal progressions that instantly inject a welcoming melancholy into the piece.
As the melodies ring out, the listener is hooked. Sombertrap is an intelligent composer who knows exactly how to hold the listener’s attention effortlessly.
In addition, the leading hook is addictive and stays with the listener long after the music has ended. Sombertrap fills the sonic spectrum with vivid colour and ‘The Distance (between Before And After)’ is a release that will have you reaching for the repeat button.
Comments
Sombertrap says about the release, “Music has been a companion for almost as long as I can remember. It’s a great way to communicate feelings and enhance the mood, whichever it might be.”
He continues, “For me, this track evokes nostalgic and somewhat sombre emotions, which I feel Is a state of mind where I really become aware and thoughtful of what has been, and hopefully yet to come.”

Production
In addition, Sombertrap records all of his music in his home studio. We adore the production and master of ‘The Distance (between Before And After)’; there is an inviting warmth in the production that sets the track alight.
Influences
Sombertrap cites his influences as coming from electronic, blues, jazz, rock, pop, and Americana music. We can hear this eclectic mix coming through on ‘The Distance (between Before And After)’, but Sombertrap is creating a sound all of his own.
So make sure you add ‘The Distance (between Before And After)’ to your new music playlist; you will not be disappointed!
