Victor Alexeeff – ‘Classics Unleashed’
It’s not every day you come across an artist as talented and imaginative as Los Angeles-based artist Victor Alexeeff. His latest album, ‘Classics Unleashed’, is a masterclass in reinventing classical music with innovative arrangements, and it is an album you need to hear this Summer.
‘Sonata No. 8 in C Minor’ opens the release and evolves before the listener. We adore the layered and charismatic instrumentation that has been superbly mixed to both sides of the sonic spectrum.
‘Symphony No. 7’ is a stand-out track with a laid-back beat and addictive lead instrumentation. In addition, we adore ‘Violin Concerto in G Minor’ with its darting synths filled with personality and charm.
‘Toccata and Fugue in D’ closes the release, and it is breathtaking. The intelligent instrumentation arrangement leaves the listener reaching for the repeat button. Simply magical.
Victor Alexeeff says about this magnificent release, “I had the inspiration for this album a long time ago when Wendy Carlos released her album called ‘Switched-on Bach’. I thought it was pretty cool that someone could take something with synthesizers and recreate some of that very well-known classical music.”
He continues, “I thought that this was a great interpretation because that’s what we’re all about – interpretations. And here is someone who did this, and it was really hard work for her.
Royal Conservatory of Music
Alexeeff studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and this is where he got the inspired idea to take the classics and fuse them with 2022 electronica. We are so glad he did!
We can not recommend ‘Classics Unleashed’ highly enough. Victor Alexeeff is an exceptional talent who we can not wait to hear more from in the future. Until then, ‘Classics Unleashed’ is available to stream from the link below; enjoy!
