Voice Of Addiction – ‘Divided States’

Chicago-based band Voice Of Addiction released their magnificent album ‘Divided States’ in 2022. It is a punk-rock release that you need to know about this Summer.

‘Division Complex’ opens the release to an atmospheric beginning before the punk vibe kicks in. We adore the energetic, staccato beat that lights up the sonic spectrum with vivid colour.

‘Shinigami’ is a standout track with relatable lyrics, passionate performance and memorable melodies. In addition, ‘Bought and Sold’ features a welcoming vibe, memorable chorus and charismatic vocal performance.

Furthermore, ‘Eraser’ hears an intelligent and complex arrangement while ‘Wrong Turn’ closes the release, and it will have you reaching for the repeat button.

Band Members

Voice Of Addiction comprises of band members Ian JohnnyX (Vox, Bass Guitar), Andy Ducey (Drums) and Tyler Miller (Guitar). They are clearly excellent musicians in their respective fields, and magic happens when they play together.

Influences

The band cites their influences as coming from Fugazi, American steel, blood for blood, born against, the business, and circle jerks. We can hear these muses coming through on ‘Divided States’, but Voice Of Addiction is making music all of their own.

Since forming in 2004, Voice Of Addiction has played over 1,500 shows across North America. They have had eight official releases and independently sold over 10,000 physical copies of their material. After hearing ‘Divided States’, we can not wait to check out the band’s back catalogue too.
