Musician Bailey Tomkinson released her stunning latest single, ‘I Wish (It Didn’t End Like This)’ on the 5th December 2019. It is an upbeat and catchy song with a personal message at its heart.
From a mysterious cymbal beginning, an acoustic guitar and sparse piano breaks through. The bass and vocals enter together with Tomkinson’s rich, warm and welcoming voice taking centre stage. The song evolves as the drums commence in the second verse, and the upbeat nature grabs the listener.
Tomkinson says, “For me, this song represents the culmination of a relationship I explored with my first single “Hey Ace”. I wrote that song aged 15, so 5 years on I revisited it from a wider perspective. It’s very much a song about regret, like the saying goes, how there are two great tragedies in life, one is not getting what you want, and the other is getting it!” She continues, “Truth be told, I wrote it all in one take sat with my guitar on the bathroom floor, by the time I’d finished I was in tears. I do promise to keep it together when I take it out on the road though!”
2019 has been a breakthrough year for Tomkinson with three singles reaching top 3 on the iTunes country charts, and her release “Movie Scene” receiving over 100,000 Spotify streams and a much-coveted slot on the editorial playlist “Very Nearly Nashville”.
Tomkinson kicks off 2020 tour with a headline show on the 18th January at the 02 Academy, Islington. We are sure 2020 is going to be a big year for this incredible artist! Make sure you check out ‘I Wish (It Didn’t End Like This)’ today!
