Barney Barnett – ‘No Favours’
Cardiff-based artist Barney Barnett has released the brilliant indie-rock single, ‘No Favours’. It is a superb introduction to an artist who is destined to do significant things in 2021.
Layered electric guitars fill the sonic spectrum and are enticing from the get-go. Barney Barnett’s rich and soulful vocals breakthrough and instantly take the reins of the single.
We adore the chorus which is filled with colour and texture. In addition, the expertly played sax is superb. It is an unexpected twist in the piece. It takes the listener in a fresh direction before the familiar chorus returns.
We love the mix, master and production of ‘No Favours’, the punchy production is intoxicating and is a part of what makes ‘No Favours’ a song which stays with the listener long after the music has ended.

Barnett says about his music, “I have been writing music for a while but felt it didn’t suit any band I was playing in at the time. I didn’t want these songs to go unheard, and with the lockdown in full effect, I felt it was better for me to go solo so I could juggle logistics easier as I play most of the instruments.” He continues, “I have started recording the foundations for an album due to be finished by the end of the year.”
So, make a note of the name Barney Barnett; we are sure that you will hear much more of it in the future. Barnett is an innovating and exciting artist who stands out from the crowd.
