‘Blessed Through The TV’
One of our favourite bands is back! Newcastle upon Tyne based band Cat Ryan, have released their single ‘Blessed Through The TV’ at the end of June 2020. It is an indie-rock single that will have you reaching for the repeat button.
‘Blessed Through The TV’ swims into the sonic landscape. There is an enticing feel from the get-go. We adore the driving lyrics, paired with catchy melodies; they are memorable and exciting. The main melody is completely addictive, and stays with the listener long after the music has ended.
We love the bright and crisp production which fills the single. Cat Ryan has developed a style which is unique to them and instantly recognisable. Their individual vibe is what sets the band apart from the crowd and why they are destined for big things in the 2020s.

“‘Blessed Through The TV’ deals with the theme of half-heartedness; the limbo between abandonment and commitment,” explains Mary-Anne, singer/lyricist and multi-instrumentalist. “Lyrically the song is packed with metaphors exploring this whilst referring to the original inspiration: being sent an angel figurine (the one that features on the single artwork) from my aunt. The Pope had done a mass blessing through the television, telling people to hold items up to the tv to be blessed. It didn’t quite make sense to me; it was almost a half-hearted blessing, and this sparked the ideas behind the song”.
