Cattle & Cane – ‘I Wish I Knew Jesus (Like You Do)’

Teesside siblings Cattle & Cane have released their brilliant latest single, ‘I Wish I Knew Jesus (Like You Do)’. It is the second single to be taken from their much anticipated forthcoming album, ‘Navigator’.

Catchy and compelling, ‘I Wish I Knew Jesus (Like You Do)’ is a thoroughly addictive song. Staccato bass, a glittering guitar and stoic drums create a gripping opening. The juxtaposition of singers Joe and Helen’s voices create beautiful texture, and they complement one another wonderfully. The vibe, arrangement and instrumentation are all executed perfectly too.

‘I Wish I Knew Jesus (Like You Do)’ has been produced by Pete Hammerton (Kylie, The Shires, The Wandering Hearts. Tom Gregory), and together with Cattle & Cane, they have created a superb piece of art.

“We tried to capture a feeling of going beyond redemption with this song. It’s about a man who has lived his life, made mistakes, hurt people – including himself – and is essentially telling the people around him, ‘you don’t want to come near me – I’m bad news’” explains singer/songwriter Joe Hammill. He continues, “We’ve used Helen’s voice as a counterweight to the man’s pessimism and weariness. She’s more open to redemption, although she does bring an almost doomed hopefulness to the song, we all know this story will only end in disaster for everyone!”

You still have time to catch the magnificent Cattle & Cane at one of the dates below:

8th November – Tyne Theatre & Opera House, Newcastle

12th November – Oslo, London

We can not wait for the full album release ‘Navigator’, and after hearing ‘I Wish I Knew Jesus (Like You Do)’, we are sure you’ll feel the same!
